Shana James Curriculum Vitae

Introduction

Shana James graduated from fine art at Curtin University in 1989 where she
studied printmaking and painting. She was represented by Artplace for 10
years, in Perth, Western Australia. She has had five successful solo exhibitions
and been a part of numerous group shows. Her Artwork is part of many
private and public collection including Kerry Stokes and the Ministry for
Culture and the Arts.

Shana’s works often create the sense of a mythological story or a fragment of
unfolding events. She uses symbolic elements to build a picture with an underlying narrative.

“[Shana James] … can conjure magical moments from her images by juxtaposition and association” David Bromfield The West Australian Oct 2000

Shana is a tutor at the Fremantle Art Centre in drawing, painting and printmaking. And also teaches various one off workshops and private lessons.
