Internal (with William Morris Wallpaper) – Drypoint

In Alice in Wonderland there is a part of the story where Alice wants to get through a door way into a beautiful garden but she is too large, later when she is the right size she has left the key on the table. She longs to get into the garden but it seems impossible. So I put the gardens and the doorway inside Alice. In this piece I put the doorway inside Alice, now she can access the garden wherever she is. There is a garden in which everything can grow inside you if you allow it, no need to look outside of yourself. And the wallpaper reflects that reality- abundant growth in beautiful tessellating patterns.
