Description
I like the idea of having the key, a silver bullet that fixes all problems – unfortunately life’s not usually like that! This artwork would make a great present for an anniversary or 21st birthday.
Traditional copper etching 10cm x 12 cm is inked up by hand and turned through an etching press, limited to just 10 archival prints on 100% cotton paper. $190 unframed free postage inside Australia or arrange to pick up. (I can also arrange framing at an added cost). International sales will incur a flat rate of Aus $20 postage and handling.
Etching is a printmaking technique that dates back to the sixteenth century in Europe. The copper plate is prepared with an acid resitant ground. Lines are then drawn into the ground using ascribe (pointed tool). The plate is immersed in a chemical bath and the drawn lines are eaten away creating the image which is then printed. Printing is also a labour intensive process, whereby ink is rubbed into the surface of the plate and wiped back by the artist and requires an etching press to transfer the image onto the paper. I feel connected to the history of this centuries old process when I make this work.
