Description
I carved this linocut in 2013, after making a series of six linocuts for winemaker Damian North (formally the proprietor of Journey Wines). While I was immersed in the ideas and talking to the winemaker I was struck by the creative similarities between making wine and making linocuts. The winemaker is a visionary like an artist. Whether it is wine or artwork, both must collaborate with their chosen medium to create. Damian – the winemaker was an inspiration to me, but this image is not just for winemakers. It is for those who are creative in any way. All creative endeavours start with an idea – a dream; to begin with the idea floats around untethered, then gradually becomes concrete with the making. This is an image for creatives, wine lovers and dreamers.
Traditional handmade linocut, limited to just 20 archival prints on 100% cotton paper. $250 unframed $20 postage inside Australia or arrange to pick up. (I can also arrange framing at an added cost). International sales will incur a flat rate of Aus $50 postage and handling or $80 express Australia Post.
Even though I carved this image in 2013, I have only just printed up the edition! I think I was making work for a show at the time and this piece didn’t go with the other work so it got left for later (turns out much later). It was after an email out of the blue, where a buyer asked me about the wine labels, and I remembered this piece. I found the plate and printed the edition at her request. Now it is available to buy, printed on 100% cotton paper using top-quality archival inks, this artwork, framed correctly will last lifetimes, a great gift.
